Biography

Sheikh Muḥammad Muqeem (RA) belonged to a respected family known for piety and scholarship. From an early age, he excelled in Quranic recitation, Arabic grammar, logic, and Persian literature, showing a natural inclination toward spiritual discipline.

He formally entered the Naqshbandiyya through a teacher associated with the Zunimar lineage and became known for his inner composure, contemplative nature, and commitment to silent remembrance (dhikr-i khafi).

His guidance attracted students from Rainawari, Safakadal, and various parts of Srinagar.

His shrine, located in Zunimar, remains a respected site for Naqshbandi adherents. Annual gatherings involve recitations from classical Naqshbandi texts and readings from his preserved handwritten notes.

Legends and Oral Tradition

Local tradition recounts that he often meditated beside the Dal’s marsh edges, and birds would gather near him - symbolising the serenity associated with contemplative saints rather than historical fact.
